Two abandoned farm buildings in a field, a barn and a shed. There are no footprints or plow marks out there, so it is clear that no one uses these buildings. Someone did at one point, but now they just stand out in a lonely field. I had to use my zoom lens to capture this photo. There was nothing else around, and as always, I found myself wondering about who built these and what they were like when in use.
It’s easy to spot them in a sea of white, but these
buildings are there in the spring, summer, and fall as well. They’re less noticeable then, but they’re
still there and just as abandoned as ever.
Patiently they wait through the seasons, year after year through the sun
and the rain and the snow, until they crumble.
I’ve seen it happen before. They
finally crumble and then there’s a huge pile of debris, but over the years the
pile becomes smaller and smaller and things grow over it.
Still, these buildings tell a story from the past, and even
though they’re old and in disrepair, they still have some potential. They could be brought back to life. It probably won’t happen, but I’m a dreamer,
and dreamers dream.
