About Me

My name is Melanie, and I live in the beautiful and curious state of Maine, USA. I am a backwoods writer and storyteller, and I am the keeper of the woods and streams in my area. I chronicle the happenings of this most unusual place. I do this with my trusty camera, an eye for seeing the unusual, and poetic license. Some of the strangest things happen here--beautiful things and magical things. There are no limits to what the eye can see after the mind has been prepared.

Being outdoors on a regular basis really gets your mind thinking . . . and wandering. You will find some of those wandering ideas here, philosophy, poetry, fairy tales, and more. I often get e-mails from people telling me that a story I wrote "came just in time" to really help them. When I hear that, I know I am doing something right. In Pursuit of Maine is a labor of love, but it is still labor. I do not get paid to write any of these stories or to take any of these photos, but it does take a lot of time and effort to do so.
